Norma Walker's Brownies

These are THE best brownies you will ever eat, no lie!

My mom kept talking about how good these brownies were that she kept making, so I finally got the recipe from her that she has had for ages and made them for our 4th of July weekend at the lake. Everybody loved them and I'm sure you will too!

Mix your German chocolate cake mix with 3/4 cup melted butter and 1/3 cup evaporated milk. Grease and flour a 9x13" pan and press half of your cake mixture in the bottom of the pan. Cook at 350 degrees for 8 minutes.

Remove from the oven and sprinkle 1 cup milk chocolate chips.

You can start this process before and during the first half of the cake is cooking. You need to unwrap 60 Kraft caramels. Yes I said 60... It's really not as bad as it sounds...

Put the caramels in a saucepan with 1/2 cup evaporated milk. Melt on low, this takes a bit, but once they start melting it goes a lot faster. When all your caramels are melted pour the caramel over the cake mix and chocolate chips. It doesn't have to be fancy just drizzle it all over the cake.

Then take the second half of the cake mixture and crumble it over the melted caramel. Cook for another 18-20 minutes (depending on how hot your oven cooks).

Remove from oven, let cool. Refrigerate for 30 minutes to set caramel.

And viola! Norma Walker's Brownies. Everyone will love you for them.

Ingredients:
1 box German chocolate cake mix
1 cup milk chocolate chips
60 Kraft caramels (You will need two bags of caramels)
1 large can evaporated milk
3/4 cup melted butter
